Each Challenge organized in Africa will have 4 winners who will go on to the African FINAL taking place in 2020. The winner of the African Final will then go on to represent the continent at the 2021 World Final.
In this area you'll find the "Africa" competitions that take place over the course of one day with the selection of 4 winning competitors per Challenge (please refer to your distributor) who will qualify for the Africa FINAL in 2020, during which the 1 African gelato artisans who will participate in the WORLD MASTERS of 2021 will be selected.
Here is how a Challenge is organized:
1 - During the day the gelato artisan brings his/her own pasteurized mix (minimum 5 liters) to freeze in the production area made available by the Carpigiani Distributor.
2 - In the 30 minutes available the gelato artisan fills a metal tray for the display case and a polystyrene container for the judges.
3 - At the end of the afternoon the trays are submitted to the judges, who are local journalists and chefs.
4 - The judges start their assessments at 4 pm, based on the following parameters:
a. Taste - 40% of the final score
b. Creativity - 20% of the final score
c. Structure - 20% of the final score
d. Presentation (in the display case) - 20% of the final score
5 - The awards ceremony takes place at 6 pm, and the presence of gelato artisans with their friends and family is encouraged.
